Ms. Deere posted an image on her Instagram account where she has over 300,000 followers of herself and the doll that was custom-made with a skin of luminous resin and matching colors of Lime Crime. She had posted the image in order to give her friend, Joshua David McKenney, a doll maker some exposure. Richard prince twisted the text and removed the name of the designer and made a larger 48-by-65-inch of its print made. This print fetched $90,000 on Randall’s Island during the New York’s Frieze Art Fair. Although it did not fetch as much as the Barbie Doll sold at Christie’s auction house for $302,500, it gave the Pidgin Doll and the creator, McKenney, the celebrity limelight exposure.

McKenney is 35 years old and has blue hair like Ms. Deere, he makes dolls and is based in Brooklyn. He has quite a cult following including Grace Jones. He has been doing his job of crafting 23-inch fashion dolls as a way of his art expression for the last three and a half years. His fans include Dita Von Teese, Mariah Carey for his input in Elizabeth Arden Frgarances as well as Taylor Swift for Wonderstruck Scent.
